Know-How Craft Studio workshop with Hand & Lock
30th January 2025

Kicking off the second year of the Know-How Craft Studio, QEST and Intoart were thrilled to partner with Hand & Lock, Britain’s oldest embroidery atelier, to deliver an inspiring session for participating makers. The workshop provided an invaluable opportunity for the artists, allowing them to explore intricate embroidery techniques under the expert guidance of the Hand & Lock team. The Know-How Craft Studio programme, which began in 2024, aims to give makers with learning disabilities access to a range of craft disciplines led by specialist craftspeople, including QEST Scholars.
The programme is designed to foster creative growth and equip makers with skills for professional progression. Over the course of the three-year initiative, participants develop their craft practice and also have the chance to undertake commissions and showcase their work through exhibitions.
The Know-How Craft Studio builds on Intoart’s mission to address under-representation in the craft sector. If you would like to support this transformative programme, please contact Katherine Dunleavy, Head of Programmes and Partnerships at QEST.
