QEST was kindly invited by Ambassador Hugo Burge to take part in a summer ‘Open Studios’ event at Marchmont Studios, the home to makers and curators he has established in the grounds of Marchmont House – a ‘Grade A’ listed Palladian mansion containing some of the finest Georgian and Arts & Crafts interiors in Scotland.

Joined by QEST Johnnie Walker Scholar and Ambassador Frances Priest, we took a stall at the Makers Market, raising the profile of QEST and connecting with talented Scottish makers.

Visitors enjoyed the opportunity to shop from local makers, explore the studio spaces of resident and visiting artists – including QEST Howdens Scholar and printmaker Theadora Ballantyne-Way – and discover the impressive collection of sculptures nestled throughout the grounds of the estate, which is only open to the public for special events.

Our thanks to Hugo and Frances for this opportunity!
